Expression of Interest - UN Environment Programme Major Groups and Stakeholders, Africa Resident Liaison Support for the Presidency of the Nineteenth Session of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN)

Purpose

In effort to enhance the engagement of the UNEP Major Groups & Stakeholders (MGS), Africa with the AMCEN processes and to further strengthen collaboration with the AMCEN Presidency, the Regional Facilitators of the UNEP MGS, Africa, have been requested by the AMCEN Presidency of the Nineteenth Ordinary Session to provide liaison support services through a resident full-time employee (FTE) to be stationed in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The Role

This is a full-time equivalent (FTE) role and the ideal candidate shall:

1. Be nominated and fully supported by a UNEP-accredited organization from/in the Region of Africa
2. Be ideally based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
3. Have a clear understanding of the workings of both the UNEP and the AMCEN processes including the role of UNEP MGS, Africa
4. Provide seamless, dedicated support services to the AMCEN Presidency in close collaboration with the Regional Facilitators of the UNEP MGS, Africa
5. Work to advance the engagement of the UNEP MGS, Africa and provide regular updates and reports on-demand and as shall be defined in the engagement.
6. Remain neutral in advancing the course for the UNEP MGS Africa organizations.
