Accelerating a Just Transition to a Circular Economy in Africa

The UNEA 5 theme calls for strengthened action to protect and restore nature and the nature-based solutions to achieve the Agenda 2030. This event provides a platform for Member States and non-state actors to share and discuss how to implement Circular Economy policies, principles, practices and action plans.  The circular economy approach provides an opportunity to promote and stimulate a sustainable consumption and production practises, create employment, address resource efficiencies and at the same time protect the environment.

UNEP is organising this side event in partnership with the African Development Bank and will provide participants with information on opportunities for African countries to transition to a circular economy and how this can be done with support from different stakeholders, various organisations and development partners.
