IMPORTANT: IP4 postponed
Dear SAICM focal points and registered delegates to the fourth meeting of the intersessional process considering the Strategic Approach and sound management of chemicals and waste beyond 2020 (IP4),
After careful and considerable deliberation internally with UNEP leadership, in consultation with the ICCM5 President and IP4 Co-Chairs, and further communications with the Bureau and host country, we regret to inform you that the IP4 meeting, planned for the week of 23 to 27 March 2020, will be postponed due to the rapidly evolving circumstances regarding coronavirus.
The SAICM Secretariat will make the necessary cancellations of travel arrangements for funded delegates and all other activities related to the preparations of the meeting. We kindly request all the delegates who may have made their own travel arrangements to cancel their travel and hotel bookings.
We want to take this opportunity to thank the excellent coordination we have had with the Government of Romania since the hosting of IP4 meeting was announced, and we take note that the preparations are well advanced.
We kindly ask all the delegates for their understanding of the very exceptional circumstances. Over the coming days, the secretariat in further consultation with the bureau and Co-Chairs, will notify you on further plans to reschedule.

The IP4 meeting will be held in Bucharest, Romania, from 23 to 27 March 2020. The meeting will support stakeholders in their efforts in elaborating the future arrangements for the Strategic Approach and the sound management of chemicals and waste beyond 2020 for consideration and adoption at ICCM5.
FYI: Regional meetings and Technical briefings will take place on 22 March 2020.
