The Africa Pre-CSW71 Consultations will bring together African Union Member States, youth, civil society and women’s rights organisations, Regional Economic Communities, technical experts, academia, UN entities and other relevant stakeholders to contribute to the development of Africa’s Common African Position for the 71st Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW71).
The consultations, taking place from 22–29 October 2026 in a hybrid format in Addis Ababa and online, will provide a structured platform to gather African priorities, evidence, good practices and policy recommendations on the CSW71 priority and review themes. Stakeholder inputs will inform the subsequent expert deliberations, Member State negotiations, and ministerial consideration leading to the adoption of the Common African Position.
