About the LCIPP Pacific Regional Gathering

The Local Communities and Indigenous Peoples Platform (LCIPP) was established under the UNFCCC to facilitate the exchange of experiences and sharing of best practices between Indigenous Peoples and local communities on climate change mitigation and adaptation in a holistic and integrated manner.

In line with decision 14/CP.29 and the Baku Workplan of the LCIPP 2025-2027, the Facilitative Working Group (FWG) will convene the LCIPP Pacific Regional Gathering from 18โ€“21 August 2026, at Tanoa International Hotel, Convention Centre in Nadi, Fiji.

The gathering will bring together Indigenous Peoples and local communities, Parties, representatives of constituted bodies and workstreams under the UNFCCC, as well as other relevant entities, to exchange experiences and practices from the region and co-create ways to incorporate diverse knowledge systems, values, and practices into regional efforts to scale up climate action.

Additional Information:

  1. The FWG will facilitate the identification and registration of knowledge holders and practitioners from the Pacific region, who have submitted expressions of interest, taking into consideration regional balance, thematic relevance, gender and youth balance, and other relevant considerations. Selected participants will be contacted by the secretariat via email during the week of 19 July 2026 and invited to complete a registration form to facilitate travel arrangements.
  2. Applicants who are not selected to receive support may still attend the LCIPP Pacific Regional Gathering on their own through the official process. Please refer to the event page for further details.
  3. The form is available in English. However, interested participants may submit their responses in any of the six official UN languages. If needed, applicants may use machine translation tools to complete the form.
