Energy Divisiion

The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) has launched the ETGGP, a new regional initiative to support countries in South-East Asia to deliver clean energy transitions while strengthening growth, jobs and social inclusion. This initiative proposes a three-pillar approach to support countries in Southeast Asia: (1) data-driven policy support and capacity-building to link energy, economic and industrial strategies; (2) development of green power corridors using socioeconomic and environmental impact analysis; and (3) green finance for the energy transition to strengthen financing solutions for the transition.

Under Pillar 1 of this initiative, ESCAP will undertake country-level analytical work to identify practical pathways that connect long-term energy planning with industrial competitiveness, investment, jobs, and social outcomes. The inception workshop is therefore proposed as a targeted working session to help shape the analytical agenda for Thailand under the ETGGP initiative. It will introduce the objectives and scope of the work, review recent policy and market developments, identify priority themes for 2-3 mini reports, and agree on the evidence base, data needs and stakeholder inputs required for the next stages of implementation.
