13 and 14 March 2026, 9:30 – 12:30 EST

Taking place on the margins of the seventieth session of the Commission on the Status of Women, this working session will convene representatives of UN entities, civil society, financial institutions, academia, and other key actors to strategize how to collectively support countries in implementing the enhanced Lima work programme on gender (LWPG) and its Belém Gender Action Plan (GAP), adopted at COP 30. The Belém GAP sets out 27 activities and 98 deliverables across governance levels, to be implemented through 2034. A mid-term review is scheduled for 2029.

At this critical early implementation stage, participants will identify concrete synergies, collaboration pathways, and priority actions, with the aim of informing coordinated delivery and measurable progress on gender and climate justice over the coming decade.

Mandates

Under the enhanced LWPG, the COP requested the secretariat to facilitate coordination with other United Nations entities, intergovernmental organizations and non-governmental organizations when supporting the implementation of the work programme. In its role as a catalyst for gender-responsive climate policy and action, the secretariat regularly organizes meetings throughout the year, including on the fringes of the Commission on the Status of Women sessions (CSW), to unite organizations working to implement activities that contribute to the objectives of the enhanced LWPG and the Belém GAP.

Purpose

To strengthen collaboration within this powerful network committed to implementing gender-responsive climate policy and action through 2034. Together, we will align our efforts and identify complementarities to support the implementation of the enhanced Lima work programme and Belém Gender Action Plan, starting with concrete actions from 2026 to 2029.

We will approach this gathering with generosity, honesty, and a bias toward action and collaboration. We will leave with clarity about our individual and collective contributions, and with relationships that will sustain our shared work.

The workshop will create the opportunity to move from dialogue to coordinated action, from individual efforts to collective power.
