The 13th Meeting of the Expert Working Group on Energy Connectivity (EWG-EC) and the 10th Meeting of the Expert Working Group on Universal Access to Modern Energy Services, Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Cleaner Use of Fossil Fuels (EWG-SDG 7) will seek expert inputs on the status, development trends and enablers of the energy transition, focusing on the issues of power system connectivity, digitalization and artificial intelligence that impact the energy sector. Participants will discuss key trends in power connectivity in the Asia-Pacific region, review progress on implementation of the ESCAP Regional Road Map on Power System Connectivity, and deliberate on the potential for digitalization and technological innovations, including artificial intelligence, to enable power system connectivity, optimize systems operations, manage energy demand and integrate renewable energy. Case studies from the region will be presented and knowledge shared on current approaches, with a focus on opportunities, challenges and potential pathways forward.
