Marking the International Day for Countering Hate Speech
The Croatian Agency for Electronic Media (AEM) in cooperation with UNESCO, organizes the International Conference on digital platforms governance: Building a Network of Networks on International Day for Countering Hate Speech in Dubrovnik, Croatia, from 18 to 19 June 2024.
The commemoration of the International Day for Countering Hate Speech is an occasion to mobilize international networks of audiovisual, electronic media and online regulators in countering the exponential spread and proliferation of hate speech, discrimination and xenophobia online while growing their efforts to address this phenomenon, in line with international human rights law.
This hybrid commemoration will also be the opportunity to acknowledge the crucial role played by international networks of audiovisual, electronic media and online regulators in safeguarding human rights online and to promote digital platforms governance’s multi-stakeholder approach and human rights respecting approach.
The second day (19 June) of the conference will be dedicated to substantive discussions between the participants and to defining the way forward for the building of the Network of Networks.
