The MOU8 Conference entitled: Language Professions Embrace Change, will be a space for us to delve into the evolving landscape of our roles as translators, interpreters, revisors, editors, verbatim reporters, and precis-writers. We will discuss changes that have a profound impact on our practice, raising questions about the teaching and training we are providing to equip our students with the skills needed to navigate professional constraints and benefit from emerging opportunities.
Over the last decade, we have witnessed the development of new technologies and the rise of Artificial Intelligence. It is, hence, becoming urgent to identify and delineate the changes affecting our professions, to redefine the skills and competences to be acquired by future professionals, and to design the adaptation efforts to be deployed. Notwithstanding the importance of the change, it would be equally appealing and compelling to explore the added value that language professionals contribute.
