Description

The eighth United Nations MoU Universities Conference will be a space for staff from the United Nations language services and the MoU universities to delve into the evolving landscape of translation, interpretation, editing, verbatim reporting and précis-writing under the overarching theme of “Language Professions Embrace Change”.

The development of new technologies and the rise of artificial intelligence over the last decade has made it necessary to understand the added value that language professionals contribute, to redefine the skills and competences to be acquired, and to redesign training programmes accordingly.

At the conference, we will discuss the specific changes that are reshaping professional practice and raising questions about the teaching and training that universities provide to ensure that their students are equipped both to navigate the associated challenges and benefit from emerging opportunities.
