Useful Information

  • This event is open to all, free of charge. Participation can be in-presence at WHO Headquarters or ‘on-line’.
     
  • Participants wishing to participate ‘on-line’ are not required to register. The following site World Polio Day 2022 and Beyond: A healthier future for mothers and children (who.int) will live-stream the event, with separate channels per language (E/F/S); questions can be asked using Slido.

  • Participants intending to physically participate are required to individually register; acceptance is subject to WHO security clearance. Please note that registration is a several-step process: the ‘register’ button on this site will take you through the process, step by step:
  1. You will be directed to the UN-Indico registration platform to create your own individual profile. For help, please see the file “Guidance” (Guidelines in .pdf format and a video);
  2. The 1st step is to create your individual account;
  3. The 2nd step is to then register for this particular event by choosing it from the left-hand column; your profile data will appear automatically;
  4. Please ‘apply’, as requested, for each day (due to different daily room capacities): i.e., if you intend to attend both days, please apply for both, but separately for Friday 21 October and Saturday 22 October 2022:
  5. 3rd step: receive a confirmatory email once WHO approves (or declines) each individual application;
  6. In case of any programme change an email will be sent to all registered parties.
  • Sessions: please note that room capacity restrictions apply to all sessions; applications will be processed on a first-come/first-served basis. Further restrictions might apply due to health regulations, in which case, applicants will be advised with due notice.
    • Friday sessions will be held in the WHO Plenary Hall
    • Saturday morning and later afternoon sessions will be held in the Plenary Hall; breakout panel sessions will be held after lunch in the Plenary Hall and simultaneously in 3 separate smaller conference rooms. Please see programme for session subjects.
       
  • Interpretation:
    • Simultaneous interpretation (English/French/Spanish) will be available for sessions held in the Plenary Hall only. There will be no interpretation in the 3 smaller break-out session rooms; each of these will be in either English, French or Spanish – please see programme.
    • Questions/answers for all sessions will be available using Slido, with separate channels per language.
       
  • Live streaming and Recording:
    • All sessions (plenary and breakout) will be live-streamed on WHO and Rotary International sites, as well as on Facebook, (other to be communicated)
    • All sessions will be recorded and available for 90 days after the event on (to be communicated).
       
  • Catering: on Saturday, all-day coffee breaks and lunch-boxes will be provided, hosted by Rotary International.
     
  • Access to WHO, Avenue Appia 20, Geneva, Switzerland.  https://www.who.int.
    • by private car: there are no parking facilities at WHO. The nearest parking is ‘Nations’; another convenient parking is under the railway station ‘Cornavin’; city buses to/from WHO go from both locations – see below, next paragraph.
    • by public transport: regular city buses:

                                   -    Line 8: every 5 mins, from/via/to: Cornavin/Place des Nations/WHO; 

                                   -    Line F: every 11 mins from/via/to: Cornavin/Place des Nations/WHO.

                                   -    Line 22: every 10 minutes from/to: Place des Nations/WHO;

                                  On Saturday 22.10.22:   

                                    -  Line F: every 30 mins from/via/to: Cornavin/Place des Nations/WHO.   

                                    -  Line 22: every 15 minutes from/to: Place des Nations/WHO

                                    - (Line 8 does not go to WHO on Saturdays).

                                 NB: If you stay in a hotel or hostel in Geneva, you will receive an individual  complimentary transport card during your stay, valid for all public transport in the Geneva Canton (bus, tram, trolleybus, yellow lake boats and trains).

  • For handicap facilities, please advise in advance at contact@rotarymch.ch.  
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Please collect your badge at WHO as early as possible because check-in facilities are limited; this will avoid long queues. Check-in will open on Friday 21.10 at 14h00 and on Saturday 22.10 at 07h45.
    • Please do not bring luggage (suitcases or backpacks) as no locker facilities are available.
