The objective of this “World Polio Day 2022 and Beyond” event is to focus on the “beyond” highlighting the added value of building on the investments already made in polio eradication and by its extension the immunization agenda. These investments have supported the work force to not only vaccinate but also strengthen the capacity to track suspect cases, diagnose them with additional investments in laboratories, and to monitor overall programmatic performance towards its goal.

Going “beyond” while building on current investments will allow us to ensure that those children that have been saved from polio and together with their mothers from other vaccine preventable diseases will be able to benefit from other related preventive and life-saving services that will enable mothers to have a positive experience of their pregnancy and young children to achieve their full developmental potential.

WHO, Geneva, Switzerland

Please ensure to bring your ID and COVID vaccine certificate in order to access WHO Premises.

PCR tests are not accepted. Please participate virtually.

The mask is mandatory in meeting rooms and anywhere where 1.5m distance cannot be applied.

Please note that due to room capacity limitations, registration is capped on a "first-come/first-served" basis. If, therefore, the registration button is no longer available on this site, this means that maximum in-person capacity has been reached. However, all proceedings can be followed virtually (without prior registration) on the following site : World Polio Day 2022 and Beyond: A healthier future for mothers and children (who.int)

Please note that registration is a several-step process: the ‘register’ button on this site will take you through the process, step by step:

  • 1st step: if not done yet, create your account in the UN-Indico system and log in (right top corner of this page). Guidance: pdf  video;
  • 2nd step: register for the event (‘register’ button below on this page)*
  • 3rd step: you'll receive a confirmatory email once WHO approves your registration;

In case of any programme change an email will be sent to all registered parties.

*Registration is created separately for each day (due to different daily room capacities). If you intend to attend both days, please register for both, but separately for Friday 21.10 and Saturday 22.10.

Check-in will open on Friday 21.10 at 14h00 and on Saturday 22.10 at 07h45.

You can collect the access badge only if your registration was approved in INDICO, 24 hours in advance.

Please collect your badge at WHO main reception as early as possible because check-in facilities are limited. This will avoid long queues.

Please do not bring luggage (suitcases or backpacks) as no locker facilities are available.

Registration for this event is currently open.
