International meeting entitled “Stockholm+50: a healthy planet for the prosperity of all – our responsibility, our opportunity”
The United Nations General Assembly, in its resolutions 75/280 of 24 May 2021 and 75/326 of 10 September 2021, decided to convene a international meeting entitled “Stockholm+50: a healthy planet for the prosperity of all – our responsibility, our opportunity”, in Stockholm, on 2 and 3 June 2022, during the week of World Environment Day, to commemorate the 50 years since the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment and its outcome documents, as a contribution to the environmental dimension of sustainable development to accelerate the implementation of commitments in the context of the decade of action and delivery for sustainable development, including a sustainable recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
The international meeting will include plenary meetings held on Thursday, 2 June and Friday, 3 June 2022, as well as leadership dialogues held in parallel with the plenary meetings on both days.
Relevant stakeholders, non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, academic institutions, the scientific community, the private sector and philanthropic organizations, whose work is relevant to Stockholm+50, and who are accredited in accordance with the provisions set forth in Annex II of A/RES/75/326 are welcome to register to participate at Stockholm+50.
In accordance with paragraphs 23 and 24 of General Assembly resolution 75/326 registration portal is open to organizations that fall under the following categories and are therefore eligible to participate:
- Non-governmental organizations in consultative status with ECOSOC
- Organizations that have received special accreditation by the General Assembly to the Stockholm+50 International Meeting (decision 76/554)
- Organizations that received special accreditation by the General Assembly to attend any of the following past Conferences/meetings:
- The United Nations Conference on Environment and Development;
- The World Summit on Sustainable Development;
- The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development;
- The United Nations summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda;
- The 2017 high-level United Nations Conference to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development;
- The intergovernmental conference on an internationally legally binding instrument under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity of areas beyond national jurisdiction;
- The high-level 2022 United Nations Conference to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development, in advance of the 2020 preparatory meeting; and
- Previous United Nations conferences on sustainable development of small island developing States, held in Barbados, Mauritius and Samoa.
- Organizations accredited to the UN Environment Programme and invited to participate in the sessions of the United Nations Environment Assembly

Kindly also note that you have to upload a letter of approval by the Director or Head of the organization you are representing listing the 5 names of the persons who will be entitled to represent your organization at the meeting.
Special attention for participants:
- COVID-19: Participants are advised to check the current rules and recommendations of Sweden prior to departure at Current rules and recommendations - Krisinformation.se Travel to and from Sweden | The Swedish Police Authority (polisen.se) Recommendations when entering Sweden - The Public Health Agency of Sweden (folkhalsomyndigheten.se). For entry into the Stockholm+50 venue at Stockholmsmässan, participants should be fully vaccinated, recently tested or recently recovered from Covid-19. Proof of this may be required for entry into the venue. Please be mindful of any requirement of your country of origin or any transit country.
- VISA: It is the responsibility of participants to check whether they need a visa to enter Sweden. Information on who needs to apply for a visa, as well as all visa related matters/requirements, can be found on the website of the Swedish Migration Agency. Participants in need of a visa shall apply for a Schengen visa type C and are advised to submit their applications as early as possible, as the processing time may take up to two weeks. Please be aware that in many locations Sweden uses an external service provider VFS Global for submission of visa applications and collection of biometric information needed for the visa. This “email approval” may be used as one of the supporting documents for visa application for Sweden. However, visa approval by the host country is subject to further review and process by the applicable authority.
