Modalities of participation

Attending the meeting. Representatives of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) with "A" status accreditation and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in consultative status with the ECOSOC can be accredited to participate in the Human Rights Council's intersessional meeting as Observers. 

NHRIs

National human rights institutions (NHRIs) with “A status” accreditation, the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions, and regional coordinating bodies of NHRIs (speaking on behalf of its “A status” members) may attend and participate in the intersessional meeting.

Members of NHRIs that do not have “A status” accreditation may still be able to observe the intersessional meeting from the public gallery and attend the Knowledge Fair.

NGOs

Only NGOs with ECOSOC consultative status at the time of the session may attend and participate in the intersessional meeting. 

Please note that in case of high demand for participation, the Secretariat may limit access to the plenary room in terms of the number of accredited participants per NGO delegation.

If you are not entitled to participate in the intersessional meeting, you may still be able to observe the session from the public gallery and attend the Knowledge Fair.

Public Gallery

A limited number of seats in the public gallery is available for persons wishing to observe the meeting without being accredited as participants (i.e. students and academics).

Oral statements. Observers will be able to make short oral statements during the meeting (max. 2 minutes).

Written submissions. Written statements and other substantive submissions will also help inform the debates and summary report of the meeting. Please send your submissions by 10 December 2019 to sdgs@ohchr.org

Knowledge Fair. A Knowledge Fair during the lunch break will promote the exchange of information about existing experiences, projects and methodologies regarding the integration of human rights in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. Refreshments will be available at the lunch break for participants.
