In General Assembly Resolution A/RES/72/230 entitled ‘Development cooperation with middle-income countries’, the President of the General Assembly was mandated to convene a high-level meeting to discuss the gaps and challenges of middle-income countries (MICs) in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The meeting will facilitate ongoing exchange of experiences among MICs and with other actors on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Middle-Income countries are home to around two thirds of the world’s population and face specific challenges in their economic and social development, and climate impacts. This meeting seeks to bring representatives from Member States at the highest level, international financial institutions, United Nations bodies, and civil society to highlight key issues related to the themes, highlighting experiences, expertise and perspectives. Discussions from this event will contribute to the Secretary General’s Report on ‘Development cooperation with middle-income countries’.

- Successes and challenges in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Middle-Income countries;
- lessons learnt from institutions whose work impacts upon Middle-Income Countries;
- the role of the United Nations in facilitating South-South and triangular cooperation
