To mark One Health Day 2026, the FAO Liaison Office in Geneva is organizing a hybrid dialogue "One Health, Science and Evidence."
Advances in surveillance, laboratory diagnostics, genomic technologies, artificial intelligence, epidemiological modelling and data integration are transforming the ability of countries and institutions to anticipate and respond to health threats. These scientific tools support early warning systems, risk assessment, disease prevention and emergency preparedness across the human-animal-environment interface. Science provides the evidence needed to move One Health from concept to action, informing policies, investments and interventions that protect health at all levels.
The event will bring together perspectives from science, academia, national experience, and international organizations to discuss how science and evidence can support more effective One Health decision-making and accelerate collaborative action for healthier people, animals, and ecosystems.
Speakers:
· Dominique Burgeon, Director, FAO Liaison Office in Geneva
· Junxia Song, Chief, One Health Disease Control Branch, Animal Production and Health Division, FAO
· Professor Wanda Markotter, Co-chair of One Health High-Level Expert Panel (OHHLEP)
