The IAEG-SDGs was created by the UN Statistical Commission in March 2015. It is composed of Member States, while regional and international agencies participate as observers. Specifically, the IAEG-SDGs developed and implemented the global SDG indicator framework. Among other tasks, the group regularly reviews methodological developments and issues related to the indicators and their metadata. The 17th meeting will focus primarily on lessons learned in over a decade of SDG monitoring.
The 17th meeting will be jointly hosted by three UN Headquarters based in Nairobi: UNEP, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), with each of the three contributing to the event.
