The Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea, United Nations Office of Legal Affairs, as the secretariat of the Regular Process for Global Reporting and Assessment of the State of the Marine Environment, including Socioeconomic Aspects, (Regular Process), solicits the nomination of experts to participate in a workshop to support the implementation of the fourth cycle of the Regular Process, including capacity-building components. The Workshop will cover the region of the Indian Ocean (including the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal), the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, the ROPME/RECOFI area, and the North and South Pacific.
The Workshop will be held from 9-11 December 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The three-day regional scoping workshop will support the collection of region-specific information and data as part of the scoping phase for developing the annotated outline of the fourth World Ocean Assessment (WOA IV). In addition, the workshop will raise awareness of the Regular Process and the World Ocean Assessments, while encouraging experts to contribute to the preparation of WOA IV. The draft agenda will be shared once available.
