The vibrant coastal city of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil will welcome the global ocean community in 2027 for the next Ocean Decade Conference: a milestone moment to accelerate science-based ocean action and shape the legacy of the Ocean Decade.
This Conference is co-organised by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO in its role as the lead agency of the Ocean Decade, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) of Brazil, and the City of Rio de Janeiro.
Bringing together the global ocean community and partners, the Conference will provide an opportunity to take stock of progress, showcase innovative solutions, launch new initiatives, and forge partnerships to deliver lasting impact in the remaining years of the Ocean Decade and beyond.
The Ocean Decade Week will take place from 5 to 9 April 2027, comprising two complementary components:
- Pre-Conference Special Events (5-6 April), as partner-led events part of the official extended programme.
- Main 2027 Ocean Decade Conference (7-9 April), a three-day, in-person event.
Practical Information for Registrations
Interested participants are invited to submit a single registration request, indicating whether they wish to attend the Pre-Conference Special Events, the main Conference, or both.
All participants must have a confirmed registration to access the main Conference venue. Registration will not be possible on-site, either in the days leading up to or during the Conference.
Registration for the main Conference is not required to participate in a Pre-Conference Special Event (5-6 April 2027). Participants may register for these events only.
Please note that submitting a registration request does not guarantee participation. All registration requests are subject to review and confirmation by the organisers, taking into account venue capacity.
