High-level Plenary Meeting to Address the Existential Threats Posed by Sea-level Rise 2026

The General Assembly in its decision 78/558 of 1 August 2024 decided to hold a one-day high-level plenary meeting of the General Assembly, which will take place on 24 September 2026 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The meeting aims to strengthen international cooperation and collective action to address sea level rise, including by supporting developing countries, particularly those most vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change, as well as coastal communities, in building resilience and adapting to its consequences.
