The United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) has pleasure of inviting you to take part in a reception to mark the launch of UNIDIR’s Centre of Excellence on AI, Peace and Security, which will take place at the Restaurant des Délégués, Palais des Nations, on Wednesday, 17 June 2026 from 18:00 to 19:00.
This reception will bring together representatives from Permanent Missions in Geneva, along with partner UN agencies and Geneva-based institutions focusing on artificial intelligence in the context of international peace and security. Participants will hear from UNIDIR, State Secretary Alexandre Fasel of Switzerland, and selected representatives of our founding partners, to learn more about the work and value of the centre.
UNIDIR’s Centre of Excellence on AI, Peace and Security has been established to help ensure continuity and coherence across the growing number of initiatives at the international, regional and national levels. It will bring together governments, industry, academia and civil society to encourage inclusive global engagement. It will also provide practical, evidence-based guidance to support the governance of AI in the military and security domains, in line with the Institute's mission to build a more secure world.
It would be a great pleasure to welcome you on this occasion and to introduce you to the centre and its ambitions. To confirm your participation, please register at your earliest convenience. Please also note that temporary border controls and traffic measures related to the G7 Summit may affect travel in the Geneva region. TPG services will operate with adjusted schedules and routes.
