This meeting is convened by the UNFCCC secretariat pursuant to the guidelines for the Article 6 technical expert review (Article 6 TER) contained in annex II to decision 6/CMA.4, which provides that Article 6 lead reviewers shall meet annually at the Article 6 lead reviewers' meeting to discuss how to improve the quality, efficiency and consistency of Article 6 technical expert reviews, and shall develop conclusions on the basis of these discussions as an input to Article 6 TER practice.
Recognizing the crucial role of lead reviewers in the transparency arrangements under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, this annual meeting provides a dedicated platform for lead reviewers to exchange experiences, reflect on lessons learned from completed review cycles, and shape the future practice of the Article 6 technical expert review.
The conclusions of the meeting will serve as an input to further developing Article 6 technical expert review practice and inform the secretariat's preparations for the next cycle of reviews.
