The Roundtable on the Right to Education will be held on 10 December 2026 in Room IV at UNESCO Headquarters (Paris, France) to mark World Human Rights Day.
The roundtable will examine how the right to education, including in higher education, is translated from normative commitments into effective implementation, particularly for vulnerable, displaced and crisis-affected populations. It will bring together Member States, UN agencies and intergovernmental organizations, regional bodies, civil society, youth and student representatives, educators, academics, researchers and experts to address four interconnected dimensions: justiciability and accountability mechanisms; continuity of learning in situations of crisis, displacement and resource-constrained contexts; academic freedom and institutional autonomy; and cross-border mobility and the recognition of qualifications.
Interpretation will be provided in English and French, and the roundtable will be livestreamed/webcasted online.
