- The CISMS certification training is a flagship initiative for UNDSS, launched in 2006.
-
It is a dual-intent initiative:
- Goal 1: Builds the capacity of host countries in crisis psychosocial support management.
- Goal 2: Strengthens the crisis psychosocial support capacity for humanitarian workers and their families in those countries, providing a dual benefit.
- CISMS trains external mental health professionals, clinical psychologists, and psychiatrists in high-risk locations globally.
- From 2006 to 2019, 300 mental health professionals from various high-risk locations were trained across the world, including Asia Pacific, East/West Africa, Middle East/North Africa (MENA), Europe, and the Americas.
