The Education Data and Statistics Committee (EDSC) serves as a key platform for advancing the global education data agenda, fostering collaboration among national statistical offices, ministries of education, international organizations, and development partners.
The 12th meeting of the EDSC builds on the outcomes of the 11th EDSC meeting held in Paris in February 2025, which emphasized the need for stronger national data systems, enhanced data interoperability, and increased alignment with the Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) monitoring framework. The meeting is viewed as the official start of the preparation for the 2nd UNESCO Conference on Education Data and Statistics to be held in 2027.
