One-Day Stakeholder Meeting in connection with the High-level Preparatory Meeting for the 2026 United Nations Water Conference

Background
To support the effective preparation of the 2026 UN Water Conference, the UN General Assembly welcomed the generous offer of Senegal to convene a high-level international meeting in Dakar (78/327, para. 17). The High-level Preparatory Meeting for the 2026 UN Water Conference (Dakar High-Level Meeting) will be held in Dakar from 26 to 27 January 2026. The Dakar High-level Meeting is designed to be inclusive and collaborative. It will help to spark innovative ideas and to initiate constructive partnerships that will carry through to the UAE and beyond. One Day Stakeholder Meeting
As a special event in connection with the Dakar High-Level Preparatory Meeting for the 2026 UN Water Conference, a One-Day Stakeholder Meeting will be organized on 25 January 2026, in Dakar, Senegal. This session will be an opportunity to bring together diverse voices and perspectives to deliberate on strategies for accelerating the implementation of SDG 6 and the 2030 Agenda. It will also provide a platform to rally and mobilize stakeholders, including non-profit organizations, Indigenous peoples, women’s and youth organizations, persons with disabilities, academia, private sector and other groups, to highlight their contributions to sustainable water management and to share reflections, priorities and recommendations for the 2026 United Nations Water Conference.
This meeting will foster a collaborative and inclusive approach, recognizing the unique contributions of stakeholders in advancing SDG 6 and the water-related dimensions of sustainable development. It will also provide a platform for stakeholders to align on priorities and recommendations for the Conference’s Interactive Dialogues, informing the discussions that will take place during the High-level Preparatory Meeting in Dakar, and the preparatory process ahead of the Conference.

PARTICIPATION
The One-Day Stakeholder Meeting is open to all interested stakeholders attending the High-Level Preparatory Meeting for the 2026 UN Water Conference in Dakar, up to the capacity of the venue.
All interested participants must register to attend the One-Day Stakeholder Meeting (25 January 2026). Please note that this is a SEPARATE registration than the High Level Preparatory Meeting (26-27 January 2026. For more information about the official meetings, please visit: https://unwaterconf.sn/en

Deadline for registration is 19 January 2026 (23:59 pm EST). Registration may close earlier if capacity is reached. In this case, all pending requests will be on a waitlist and approved participants will be informed accordingly.
- Each organization will be allowed to request registration for up to 3 representatives each. Each profile has to be submitted individually.

Each individual has to attach a letter of representation from their organization.

Submitting registration doesn't guarantee your in-person participation. If your registration is approved, you will receive an approval letter confirming your in-person participation.

Please, note! Participants are responsible for all necessary arrangements related to their in-person participation, including travel, visa and others, as appropriate. The Secretariat will not follow up on individual requests for visa letters neither will liaise with the host country on visa issues.
