Regional Workshop on Strategic Planning and Implementation for Food Systems Transformation in the Arab Region (1 Dec - 2 Dec 2025)

ESCWA, in cooperation with the United Nations Food Systems Hub and the Arab Organization for Agriculture Development (AOAD), with support from the Government of Sweden, are organizing this regional workshop to explore how strategic planning supported by appropriate tools could be leveraged for food systems transformation.

The regional workshop aims to strengthen the capacities of Arab countries to strategically plan and implement transformative actions for sustainable, resilient, and inclusive food systems. It provides a platform for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and experience exchange to support national and regional efforts aligned with global food systems transformation agendas. The Workshop’s key objectives are to:

  • Introduce dedicated tools for supporting member countries to assess current status, and identify key challenges, opportunities, and priority areas for transformation.
  • Share regional and global best practices and lessons learned in food systems planning, governance, and implementation.
  • Strengthen institutional and technical capacities for evidence-based policymaking and monitoring of food systems.
  • Strengthen knowledge on investment and climate finance opportunities available to support implementation of food systems transformation strategies.
  • Promote regional cooperation and alignment on food systems transformation goals, frameworks, and indicators.
