Background
This workshop builds on the requests and outcomes of the Inter-Ministerial Workshop for 'Promoting Capacity Building to Address Air Pollution through Regional Cooperation' held in April 2025 in Vientiane, Lao PDR, which emphasized the need for enhanced integration of information and communication technologies (ICT) in air quality management and intelligent, data-driven solutions. In this connection, the key objectives of the workshop are to: (i) enhance the technical capacity of ASEAN countries through hands-on learning experiences to use digital tools including AI-powered solutions, machine learning tools, and data visualization techniques to analyze air pollution, (ii) share good practices on digital solutions and technology-driven air quality interventions, identifying opportunities for replication and scaling, and (iii) foster partnerships between government agencies, technology developers, and research institutions to create scalable digital solutions for addressing air pollution across the ASEAN region.
