the 9th Biennial Meeting of the Working Group on the Trans-Asian Railway Network, to be convened in accordance with Article 6(2) of the Agreement on 11 and 12 September 2025, at United Nations Conference Centre, Bangkok, to consider the implementation of the Agreement and any amendments proposed. It will also discuss policies and issues related to the operationalization of the Trans-Asian Railway Network and consider a draft regional framework on enhancing rail cybersecurity in Asia and the Pacific.
The secretariat would be grateful if your Government could submit its letter of credentials communicating the names and designations of the members of your delegation to the Transport Division (escap-td@un.org), with a copy to Mr. Sandeep Raj Jain (jain@un.org), as soon as possible and by 8 August 2025 at the latest. Kindly note that all delegates whose names appear in the letter of credentials are required, in accordance with standard United Nations security procedures, to register online by 30 August 2025.
Remarks:
The eighth biennial meeting of the Working Group on the Trans-Asian Railway Network held in September 2023 adopted a Strategy 2030 on Accelerating Rail Digital Transformation in the Asia Pacific and an Annex III to the Intergovernmental Agreement on Trans-Asian Railway network that provide further coherence and momentum to the rail digitalization initiatives in the region.
Accordingly, as a part of implementation of the Strategy 2030, the Capacity Building Workshop on use of Artificial Intelligence in Rail is being organized on 10 September 2025 back-to-back with the ninth meeting of the Working Group on Trans-Asian railway (11-12 September 2025). In addition, the Joint ESCAP/OSJD Seminar on Electronic Information Exchange among Railways and between Railways and Control Agencies will follow on 12 September with an objective to exchange information on recent developments on the subject matter.
Participants, therefore, are also requested to indicate any additional interest to join the Workshop or/and the Joint Seminar in the registration form.
