Capacity building workshop on tobacco and SSB taxation with Bangladeshi officials

The primary objective of the meeting is to support Bangladesh in adopting a ‘Public Health Friendly’ taxation policy for tobacco and SSBs. This involves discussing the current health and economic goals of tobacco and SSB taxation in Bangladesh, the role of tax instruments in advancing the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the potential achievements and challenges in strengthening the supplementary duty taxation (SDT) on tobacco products and SSBs.
