In the context of achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and in preparation for the 2025 Arab Forum for Sustainable Development (AFSD), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and the Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment (CAMRE), and in participation with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), are organizing a regional consultative meeting titled “Science-based and Inclusive Environmental Solutions for Advancing SDGs Implementation”. This consultative meeting focuses on the environmental dimension of the 2030 Agenda and in particular on the SDGs under review at the 2025 HLPF: Goals 3, 5, 8, 14 and 17.
The objectives of the meeting are to:
- Facilitate discussions among stakeholders on innovative environmental solutions to address poverty, improve health outcomes, achieve gender equality, stimulate sustainable economic growth, conserve marine ecosystems, and strengthen partnerships, building on regional and national initiatives and best practices;
- Highlight opportunities to scale up proven regional and national initiatives and integrate them into broader development strategies;
- Identify priority actions and means of implementation to accelerate progress on the SDGs under review.
