The Surveillance Portfolio Assistant is a decision support tool aimed at helping stakeholders select the optimal combination of surveillance systems. The tool will:
· Compile relevant surveillance methods, detailing their strengths, focus areas, and limitations;
· Map conditions and requirements specific to diseases and pathogens;
· Provide filters for users to specify requests, covering diseases, surveillance objectives and geographic/population features;
· Use algorithms and logic to connect these elements into a prototype tool.
ABOUT THE CONSULTATION MEETING
The planned meeting aims to validate the outputs of the SPA tool and to ensure the tool effectively supports public health decision-making across diverse contexts. The meeting will bring together technical and disease experts from a wide range of disciplines, including national surveillance authorities, academia, field epidemiology, and operations. Using the Delphi consultation method, the meeting will:
· build consensus on the interdependency between surveillance characteristics and information needs;
· refine the Surveillance Portfolio Assistant tool based on expert feedback.
