OHCHR is hosting a side event at the 57th Human Rights Council session featuring the documentary “Changemakers: Stories of Young Human Rights Educators.”
The documentary features the stories of seven young human rights educators, emphasizing diversity in geographic and gender representation, socio-economic backgrounds, ethnicities, abilities, and various thematic focuses within human rights education.
Since 2020, OHCHR has collaborated with Amnesty International and Soka Gakkai International to create this documentary, aimed at inspiring young people to engage in human rights through education. Launched in December 2023 during the Human Rights 75 Youth Dialogue, the project features a one-hour film and educational materials, accessible via the Human Rights Education Open Web Resource.
The side event is co-sponsored by the Human Rights Council's Core Group on Human Rights Education and Training (Brazil, Costa Rica, Italy, Morocco, Philippines, Senegal, Slovenia, and Thailand) and the NGO Working Group on Human Rights Education and Learning of CoNGO.
