The open-source peacekeeping-intelligence training is a practical training that will enable the participants to apply relevant guidance on OPKI, effectively manage open-source resources, and apply tools and techniques to conduct open-source research as part of the peacekeeping-intelligence cycle. The course will focus on
- Identify information requirements and design search strategies
- Analyze the local information and media environment
-Conduct searches across multiple search engines
-Verify websites and individuals
-Monitor key social media accounts / sites and identify trends
-Use geolocation tools and translation tools
-Recognize mis/disinformation characteristics
The target audience is civilian, military and police staff deployed to PKI positions, in charge of managing or acquiring information from open sources as part of the PKI cycle. The backgrounds of participants can range from having no intelligence background to OSINT professionals.
