The objectives of the technical workshop is to do an in depth review of the current tobacco tax situation and opportunities for policy change.
More specifically, the following topics will be covered:
1. Tobacco tax modeling for the medium term (2025-2030) including the simplification process and its impact on illegal cigarettes;
2. New modeling for the taxation of electronic cigarettes;
3. Possibilities for improving the use of tobacco excise revenue-sharing funds;
4. Training on WHO’s Interactive Smoking Projection and Target Setting Tool (ISPT) looking at the impact of a package of tobacco control policies on consumption.
