The 2025 United Nations Ocean Conference, co-hosted by France and Costa Rica, will focus on accelerating action and mobilizing all actors to conserve and sustainably use the ocean. It will take place in Nice, France, from 9 to 13 June 2025.
Pursuant to General Assembly resolution A/RES/78/128, non-governmental organizations, civil society, and youth organizations, Indigenous Peoples’ organizations, local and regional authorities, academic institutions, the scientific community, the private sector, philanthropic organizations, and other stakeholders whose work is relevant to the Conference are invited to participate as observers in the Conference.
Relevant organizations that do not have consultative status with ECOSOC or have not been accredited to any of the Conferences and Summits listed below (check the consolidated list here) MUST APPLY FOR SPECIAL ACCREDITATION by following the "REGISTER NOW" link at the bottom of this page.
The deadline for submitting applications is 13 December 2024.
Note: If your organization has already received accreditation for one of the Conferences or Summits listed below, DO NOT APPLY for this ad-hoc Special accreditation. A separate registration portal for conference registration will be available closer to the event date.
- The World Summit on Sustainable Development
- The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development
- The Intergovernmental conference on an internationally legally binding instrument under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity of areas beyond national jurisdiction
- The United Nations Conference on Straddling Fish Stocks and Highly Migratory Fish Stocks
- The Review Conference on the Agreement for the Implementation of the Provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 10 December 1982 relating to the Conservation and Management of Straddling Fish Stocks and Highly Migratory Fish Stocks
- The international meeting entitled “Stockholm+50: a healthy planet for the prosperity of all – our responsibility, our opportunity” and including those organizations accredited to participate in the sessions of the United Nations Environment Assembly
- The 2017 and 2022 United Nations Conferences to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development
- United Nations conferences on Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States (SIDS), held in Barbados, Mauritius, Samoa and Antigua and Barbuda
- Organizations that have received special accreditation per General Assembly resolution A/RES/78/128. to the 2025 UN Ocean Conference. A list of specially accredited organizations for the first round can be found here.

*This ad-hoc special accreditation is applied for at the organizational level, requiring only one application per entity. Individuals may not apply for special accreditation.
* Projects fiscally sponsored by parent entities may not apply for accreditation. The fiscal sponsor must apply with proof of its legal status. Only entities with their own legal status may apply for special ad hoc accreditation.
