On 10 December 1948, the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). It recognized that the promotion and protection of human rights are at the heart of freedom, justice, and peace.
This year sees the 75th anniversary of the UDHR. The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has embarked on a year-long Human Rights 75 Initiative to rekindle the spirit, impulse, and vitality of the UDHR and renew a worldwide dedication to human rights. National and regional level activities have been taking place all year as part of this initiative.
The initiative will culminate in a High-level Event on 11 and 12 December 2023 in Geneva, Switzerland, connected to regional hubs in Bangkok, Nairobi, and Panama.
A key element of the high-level event will be the presentation of pledges by Member States related to and considering the UDHR.
Reception in Bangkok
To enable real-time participation across the globe, a reception will be held in-person at the UN Conference Centre in Bangkok.
In addition to providing an opportunity to follow online the events taking place in Geneva, the Royal Thai Government will present its HR 75 pledge as part of the reception.
Attendance to this event is by invitation only.
