Special Accreditation - 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4)

Pursuant to General Assembly resolution 77/245 the 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) will be held in Antigua and Barbuda from 27 - 30 May 2024, with the theme “Charting the course toward resilient prosperity”

Stakeholder Participation in the Conference: 

As guided by resolution A/CONF.223/2024.PC.L1 (Annex II, Section III), other relevant stakeholders, including the non-governmental organizations not in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council, wishing to attend and contribute to the Conference, and whose work is relevant to the subject of the International Conference, can apply through this platform to seek special accreditation for the Conference as observers.

Please Note:  

You do NOT need to apply for special accreditation if your NGO has consultative status with ECOSOC, or has been accredited to the previous United Nations conferences on the sustainable development of Small Island Developing States held in Barbados, Mauritius, and Samoa, please find the lists of accredited organizations under the Stakeholders tab in section "Who can participate in SIDS4?" here 

The application for Special Accreditation to SIDS4 is NOW OPEN until 10 November 2023.

Stakeholder applications will be reviewed by Member States, in accordance with the relevant GA Resolution. The name of the organization and country will be shared with the Member States, and other information, including but not limited to the homepage and/or the reason for participation may also be shared if requested.  

Accredited entities will be informed and will receive further instruction to finalize their registration, as representatives will need to register individually to secure their participation in the event.

Necessary documents for accreditation:

(a) The purpose of the organization and expression of interest;

(b) Proof of Legal Status;

(c) A copy of the constitution and/or by-laws of the organization;

(d) Copies of the annual or other reports of the organization with financial statements and a list of financial sources and contributions, including governmental contributions;

( e) Information as to the programmes and activities of the organization in areas relevant to the conference and its preparatory process and the country or countries in which they are carried out. Non-governmental organizations seeking accreditation shall be asked to confirm their interest in the goals and objectives of the conference;

(f) Confirmation of the activities of the organization at the national, regional or international level;

(g) A list of members of the governing body of the organization and their countries of nationality;

(h) A description of the membership of the organization, indicating the total number of members, the names of organizations that are members and their geographical distribution;
