This event is organized by the International Labour Organization  (ILO) in collaboration with the RES4Africa Foundation. Skills development is one of key policy areas to address environmental, economic and social sustainability.

The ILO’s estimates show that the transition to energy sustainability and circular economy could lead to a job creation of 103 million globally by 2030. However, some 78 million jobs could be lost. In addition, the projection shows that there will be larger demand for higher skill level occupations and most of turnover will happen for medium-skilled occupations which has a great implication for technical and vocational education and training (TVET) level.

In light of this, TVET needs to anticipate and respond to skill changes needed for successful careers in low-carbon and resource efficient economies and societies. TVET systems in close partnership with social partners need to prepare their current and future learners for being responsible and well-informed producers and consumers, and for being able to act competently, creatively and as agents for climate change and sustainability in their workplaces and in society at large.

This session will take place on 27 September, from 11:00am - 12:30pm (CEST). Head to the webpage for more details!
