Led by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in collaboration with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA), this webinar will focus on capacity-building development in Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
SIDS are a group of countries and territories distributed across the Caribbean, Pacific, and Africa, Indian Ocean and South China Sea (AIS) which the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) have recently indicated that they present the most urgent needs for capacity development support, notably on climate change adaptation.
Currently, the OECD is finalising work on capacity development for climate change in SIDS, looking at good donor practices in five key themes for capacity-related donor action: access to climate finance, climate data and services, working with non-governmental partners, regional and triangular approaches, and effectiveness issues.
This joint OECD, UNFCCC PCCB Network and UNDESA seminar will dive into these topics through a technical panel discussion looking at tested solutions and good practices that can help SIDS overcome existing capacity barriers to act and be more ambitious in the area of climate change. After the presentations, you will have the chance to interact with speakers and participate in discussions!
The webinar will take place on the 29th of June from 15:00 - 16:30 (CEST). Keep an eye out on the webpage for more upcoming details!
