Status of Outbreaks

  • What structures are in place to respond to outbreaks (RRT, IMST)? How does it work?  How can we ensure that the GPEI coordinator and the National PolioPlus Committee chair in country connect?  This is has been a challenge.
  • What are the challenges to stopping outbreaks (quality, speed, scope)?
  • What does the GPEI do when outbreak campaigns are of poor quality?  What accountability mechanisms are in place?
  • How many outbreaks are there?
  • Is it possible to do a summary of domestic financing for outbreaks?  This is a major issue for some Subcommittee members.
  • How can Rotary get credit for funding outbreaks?  Since we are contributing to a pool of funding, countries don’t know where the funding is coming from.  Rotary members in country would have more leverage if the country knew we were funding outbreaks.  This is a major issue for the IPPC chair.
