On the margins of the 17th Session of the Group of Experts on Coal Mine Methane and the 9th Session of the Group of Experts on Gas UNECE is organizing two technical workshops, one on sustainable hydrogen production and another on methane management.

Sustainable hydrogen production in CIS countries, 10h00 – 13h00 CET

This technical workshop is part of the project: “Sustainable hydrogen production in the UNECE region and its role in the development of a hydrogen ecosystem and export potential”. The objective of this workshop is to help countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia harness potential of hydrogen production and trade and develop a regional hydrogen ecosystem. During this workshop experts will:

•    Review methods to produce sustainable hydrogen (electrolysis, pyrolysis, biomass, fossil with CCUS)

•    Discuss cost and technical performance of various hydrogen production pathways in CIS countries

•    Identify economic, technical, policy and investment barriers to hydrogen projects

•    Review latest developments in hydrogen taxonomy and their impact on CIS countries

Methane management, 12h00 – 14h00 CET  

The Global Methane Initiative Oil & Gas Subcommittee, in conjunction with the UNECE Group of Experts on Gas, is organizing a methane management meeting on Wednesday, 23 March 2022 at 12h00 – 14h00. The agenda is under development and additional details will be available soon.
