The United Nations Office at Geneva and the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the UNOG, in partnership with the Embassy of Canada in Kazakhstan, UNFPA, UN Women, UN Resident Coordinator’s office in Kazakhstan and STEPPE present “Ordinary Objects”, an exhibition calling to end domestic violence against women.
The centerpiece of the event is a collection of photos of 16 everyday objects: a glass, a book, a chair, money, etc. Each object symbolizes the stories of women in Kazakhstan, who have experienced physical, psychological, and economic violence; and who have suffered or died at the hands of their intimate partners or family members. The stories are based on real police reports, provided by the Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and crisis across the country.
