The sixty-fifth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW65) is scheduled to be held from 15-26 March 2021 and will consider the priority theme of “Women's full and effective participation and decision-making in public life, as well as the elimination of violence, for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls”. The session will also review the agreed conclusions of the sixtieth session, “Women's empowerment and the link to sustainable development”.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the sixty-fifth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW65) is scheduled to take place virtually/online (including the general discussion, ministerial round tables and interactive events), with the exception of two in-person meetings (opening and closing) planned to take place with the participation of New York-based delegates. Negotiations of agreed conclusions would likewise take place virtually. This format takes into account the constraints and opportunities as they might present themselves in the changing and evolving environment of the COVID-19 pandemic and the related safety and health guidelines implemented at the United Nations Headquarters. There is no expectation of travel to UNHQ in New York. All side events and parallel events will likewise take place fully virtually.

CSW registration closed on 24 February 2021.

There will be over 100 virtual interactive side events hosted by Member States, Intergovernmental Organizations and UN Entities, often in collaboration with civil society; you may find the calendar of side events here: https://www.unwomen.org/en/csw/csw65-2021/side-events

Please be advised that it is at the discretion of the individual side event organizers to provide access to their specific meeting and will also depend on the technical limitations of the virtual platform that the respective side organizers will use for their specific event. The access/registration links for individual side events as indicated by the side event organizers may be found under their events.

The link to the NGO CSW virtual interactive platform and NGO CSW65 Forum with more than 700 NGO parallel events is available at: https://ngocsw.org/  . These events are coordinated by the NGO Committee on the Status of Women (NGO CSW), a group of New York based ECOSOC accredited NGOs. We encourage you to join the discussions and rich programme of events on this interactive virtual platform!

Please note, UN Women does not coordinate NGO parallel events, and CSW65 registration in Indico is not required to sign-up for the NGO CSW virtual platform as it is not tied to the official CSW.
