Woven Poems: Exhibition of Traditional Carpets and Costumes from Moldova

The Permanent Mission of Moldova, in partnership with the United Nations Office at Geneva, cordially invites you to the Woven Poems: Exhibition of Traditional Carpets and Costumes from Moldova, from 15 to 29 October 2020, opening at 4 p.m. at UN Geneva Bar Serpent.

This event is an exhibition of unique handmade carpets that celebrate the rich history and customs of all ethnicities living in Moldova. Included in the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (2016), traditional wall-carpet craftsmanship of the Republic of Moldova represents a wealth of tradition, history, and culture. Historically woven by women, Moldovan carpets are often said to be akin to a book, sharing thread by thread and motif by motif the ancestral messages of wisdom, peace, and goodwill.
