On 14-15 November 2019, UN Environment and UNOPS will hold a Workshop on Inclusive Infrastructure.
The workshop will bring together a wide range of stakeholders with experience and expertise in inclusive infrastructure development. It aims to foster discussions on the challenges that confront countries when infrastructure is not designed to be inclusive and does not consider the needs of all end-users, especially marginalised groups. It will provide a platform to discuss solutions for improving infrastructure projects such that they have a positive impact on the excluded and vulnerable groups of population and contribute to reducing inequalities, while at the same time contributing to environmental sustainability.
The outcomes of this workshop will directly inform and feed-into guidance on integrated, systems-level approaches to delivering sustainable infrastructure that is being developed by the Sustainable Infrastructure Partnership. The Workshop will be informed by, and build upon, key ongoing initiatives such as the G20 Principles for Quality Infrastructure Investment and Global Infrastructure Hub’s Reference Tool for Inclusive Infrastructure.
