Description
This workshop is organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) in cooperation with the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) to collect feedback from key stakeholders. They will work in plenary and breakout sessions to present their views and share experiences about ethical aspects of radiation protection in medicine. The meeting will help identify ethical issues that may arise in different scenarios and discuss how the radiation protection principles are applied in such conditions. The meeting will gather professionals from different regions of the world including experts on biomedical ethics and radiation protection, as well as representatives from relevant stakeholders in the field of medical use of radiation. The expected outcome of this workshop will be the outline of a WHO guidance document on ethical considerations in using radiation in health care. The ICRP is developing a report on ethical aspects of radiation protection in medicine, and the preliminary draft will be presented at this workshop to collect feedback from the participants.
