How to get here

The World Health Organization (WHO/OMS) headquarters is situated on the outskirts of Geneva at the end of Avenue Appia, approximately three kilometres from the centre of town, and about one and a half kilometres from the Palais des Nations (UN).

Getting here by Taxi

Most Geneva taxi drivers know the headquarters building as "OMS" (on Avenue Appia). There are taxi stands located at almost all main squares in Geneva. The receptionist at the WHO main reception desk can request taxis or a taxi can be called by telephone by dialling the following numbers: +4122 33 141 33. By taxi, it takes about ten minutes to get to WHO from the airport (25-30 CHF) or from the railway station (20 CHF). A taxi to the centre of town costs 35-50 CHF, depending on the route and precise location.

Public Transport From the airport

To travel from the airport to WHO, you may take the number 28 bus, which will take you right to WHO headquarter in approximately 15-20 minutes. Your bus stop for WHO is called Vie-de-Champs. The bus runs approximately every 30 minutes from the airport to WHO during the daytime. The town centre can be reached within about 25 minutes from the airport with the number 10 bus. Both bus routes operate regularly on the weekends as well. Since bus schedules are subject to change, see the schedules posted at the bus stop or www.tpg.ch for current schedules and times.

From the train station Cornavin

From Monday to Friday, WHO can be reached by bus number 8 with the destination board on the bus indicating OMS. The number 8 bus stops directly in front of the main entrance of WHO. It runs from Veyrier via Rive (the centre of town) and the Place Cornavin (railway station). You may also take the buses number 12, 16, 28 and F from Cornavin and disembark at the bus stop Vie-de-Champs. These numbers are also operating at the weekends. Then, walk 5 minutes to the main entrance of WHO. The relevant bus timetables are displayed on the board next to the WHO reception desk as well as at all bus stops. Different arrival times are listed for weekdays, weekends and special holidays. Tickets must be purchased before entering buses. Individual tickets are available from vending machines at the bus stops. The normal fare for one adult ticket is 3 CHF. Please note that the vending machines do not give change. Cards for multiple trips at a reduced price can be purchased at newsagents in town bearing the "TPG" sign.
