DESCRIPTION:Over the past six years\, the biopharmaceutical sector has evo
lved significantly in response to growing global demand for biological the
rapeutic research\, development and manufacturing capabilities. This trans
formation has increased the importance of not only tangible assets and bio
logical materials\, but also process innovation\, technical expertise\, sp
ecialized knowledge services and data handling. While these advances have
accelerated innovation and strengthened the sector’s responsiveness\, th
ey have also introduced new challenges in aligning industry operations w
ith international non-proliferation frameworks.\nIn this context\, the eve
nt will provide a platform for dialogue between governments and biotechnol
ogy industry stakeholders to demonstrate how collaborative engagement can
ensure that non-proliferation safeguards remain both technically feasible
and proportionate to genuine security concerns\, while remaining responsiv
e to the evolving needs of a dynamic\, pandemic-prepared biopharmaceutical
sector. Through this partnership\, international norms can be strengthene
d while continuing to support innovation and sustainable sectoral growth
 under the BWC.\n\nhttps://indico.un.org/event/1025308/
